Don’t Let Past Business Failures Stop Your Dream of Running a Successful Business.

I will use myself as a prime example as to how business failures can hinder you from seeking new opportunities that may be better experiences.
About 10 years ago I invested around £5000 in a commercial cleaning franchise, called Coverall, it seemed like a good opportunity, the McDonnell family sold it to me brilliantly, but alas they were crooks, I put a lot of effort and time into the training and working with the franchise owners to get the business up and running, which in hindsight was a waste of time and worthless.
My training was just about complete and it was time for the Crooked McDonnell family to get my initial contracts to get the business started. They then decided that they couldn’t work with the master franchise owners in the USA and they were pulling out of the company, which meant they were keeping my money and everyone else’s and folding the business.
This failure hurt financially and in the time and effort I put into it. But it didn’t stop me from seeking out new opportunities.
I got sold on the Idea of Kleeneze, it seemed like a good opportunity, all you had to do was deliver catalogues to peoples homes and you would make a percentage of the profits, but the real money in Kleeneze was seemingly made by recruiting people to become part of your team and you then make a percentage of their profits. Simple enough in theory, I became part of a team, worked hard, I was making about £500 a month profit, which from my point of view wasn’t worth the time and effort. My team leader must have loved his nice cut for doing nothing. I eventually had a team with 7 people below me, but they were more interested in getting people into their own teams, rather than selling themselves. I finally came to the conclusion after about 7 months that Kleeneze obviously had made some people making good money, but I personally felt that it was now kind of saturated and I also could see the flaws in MLM and didn’t want to waste any more time and effort being part of it.
After these two failures my desire and believe in myself to find a business opportunity that would work evaporated. I suppose I gave up looking, my confidence had been severely shaken. I then settled down to the life of being a wage slave for a series of company’s that just wanted to bleed me dry.
Here I am 10 years on now full of desire and self believe about my own abilities to achieve my goal of making 2 million dollars. I now realise that I should have used my failures as a learning tool, and spent even more time and effort into finding a business opportunity that would work. My failures have taught me some vital lessons, I will never again get involved in a franchise, or a MLM kind of company again and I will never allow setbacks or crooks to upset my mojo.
In life there will always be someone or some company out there that is trying to cheat you out of your money, or you will pick a business venture that was never going to work, we all make mistakes. The difference between winners and losers is how they deal with the tough times.
I believe if you truly want to succeed, and you learn from your mistakes, you will get whatever you desire out of life.
It was kinda inspiring to read about the amazing online success story known as Shoemoney and his top 10 personal failures My Top 10 Worst Ideas To Make Money
I personally feel that my inability to deal with my business failures quickly and in a more pragmatic manner, was primarily to do with being a man, here is a very interesting article which I feel effectively sheds some light on some of the mental issues which stopped me from progressing with my business life How to Be a Man
