2 Million Dollar Bills

One Man and His Mission To Make 2 Million Dollars

Don’t Work Hard All the Time, Rest and Relaxation Are Just As Important!

author Posted by: garryaw on date Jun 20th, 2008 | filed Filed under: About Life, Uncategorized

Yesterday was a day of rest for me, I have been working solidly for over 4 weeks without having a complete day off. I’m an advocate off the theory, that if you want to succeed with your life, studies, business, work, sport or anything, you have to be prepared to work extremely hard, be exceptionally motivated, as well as putting the time and effort into it.

So yesterday was a day of rest and relaxation, it was a chance for me to recharge my batteries, in preparation for developing my present business ideas and hopefully further opportunities as and when they present themselves. I feel that when I get to Barbados and the next stage of my 2 million dollar bills plan is in place, I must start putting aside at least a few hours a day, where I put my feet up and just relax.

I feel that too many people and myself included, allow ourself’s to become too focussed and obsessed on building up businesses, that other things are forgotten about, such as family time, relaxation time or even exercising. During those times when you are away from work and when you least expect it, a great idea or opportunity can be created or discovered. When you work hard and stay focussed on something for too long, you can sometimes become stale and blinded and as a result you stifle your inspiration.

It was kind of liberating waking up late morning knowing that I never had any real work to do, I raked out the deck chair and the inspirational book by Duncan Bannatyne “Anyone Can Do It”. After few hours reading the book, I was rudely interrupted by the tune coming from the local Ice Cream van, so I done what any man would do on his day off, I rushed out and bought an ice cream. I wondered to myself if this ice cream man was possible the next Duncan Bannatyne, you never know!

I think it is imperative that those who are seeking to become successful, should spend some time reading the autobiographies of people that started off with virtually nothing and have achieved unbelievable levels of success, purely through their own ability, hard work and determination. So much can be learned about the attitude and believe systems of successful people by reading their thoughts put into words!

Sorry Duncan I had to put down your great book and head to the Plough in Northolt Village for a few liquid refreshments and some food. Because I was having a lazy day, I called a taxi. We eventually made it to the Plough, the Taxi driver was a crazy looking Indian that could barely speak a word of English and as a result he wasn’t sure where he was taking us. We eventually made it to our destination, it was remarkable how clear and well spoken Mr Indian taxi drivers English was with numbers, he managed to say the bill clear as day! I like his business sense, don’t bother learning the whole of the English language, just make sure you learn the important stuff!

The Plough must be about the only busines, which  I have been into in London since I got here 4 weeks ago, that  has only got English people working in it. I find that truly amazing, maybe they only employ people that can speak proper English.

I thought the world had truly become crazy, just before I moved down to London, I was in the Asda Walmart in Aberdeen, when I asked a customer service girl where something was, she couldn’t help me!, she was Polish, she could hardly understand me, her English was very poor. Its kind of weird to experience such things in your own country, but I suppose that’s progress for you. Maybe we Brits need to stat learning Polish so we can help make life a bit easier for all the new people coming to the UK! When I arrive in Barbados I will know some basic Bajan, it’s my duty as a guest on the Island,  20 Bajan Words That Will Make Your Trip to Barbados More Fun!

A few cool pints of Fosters went down a treat along with a juicy steak, and few long glasses of Pimms and lemonade. I reminded myself of the 2 million dollar bills dream and what I’m planning on achieving as I slowly sipped my last, one for the road glass of Pimms. It went down exceptionally well as I visualized myself sitting in the balcony of my dream Caribbean house watching the glorious sun setting.

A day of rest is not being lazy, it wont destroy or shatter your dreams, the world wont rush past you and leave you behind if you take a day off. Having a day off from time to time, is a necessity that will make you better prepared and more focussed for the challenges that lie ahead. You body, mind and soul will enjoy the chance to focus on enjoyment and pleasure for a change, instead of constantly being focussed on work related matters.

Don’t make that mistake of never taking a day off, or spending some time each day relaxing and just totally switching your mind off from work. I for one intend to make sure that I start back having some relaxation time every single day. Before I moved down to my temporary home in London from Aberdeen, I was going to the beach, park or the river virtually everyday for some relaxation time. During many of those relaxation breaks, I would come up with some good business ideas or opportunities without even thinking about them. So  much good  can be gained from one trip to the beach,  Exercise, Motivation, Relaxation and Work, All In One Journey!

I for one will be incorporating relaxation time into my daily schedule from now on, but it isn’t easy in London to find a quiet location away from the maddening roar of traffic, tubes, planes, or crazy lunatics!

Seeking Inspiration, Its Not Easy in London

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 30th, 2008 | filed Filed under: health & Fitness

Life in London is pure chaos for me; I find it so annoying, that it is almost impossible to find a quiet beauty spot, without throngs of people. It’s a mad, crazy, unforgiving, soulless city where good manners don’t seem to exist. I use to enjoy my periodic 4 or 5 short visits to London every year to visit family, but now that I have being living here for almost 4 weeks, it has made me see the other side of the city. All I can say is being a tourist in London is fun, but living here and knowing I cant go back to Scotland to escape is hell.

When I was back home in Aberdeen, if I ever needed to have a relaxing wee break, I would head down to the beach and walk along the promenade or go to Balmedie beach and walk along the miles of golden sands. What I would give to head down to either the River Don or the River Dee in Aberdeen and enjoy the natural beauty. All those great places were within a 5 - 20 minute walk or drive from my front door.

Being able to jump in my car or walk to my favourite chill out places was something that I took for granted, and now that I cant do it, I appreciate them even more. During my many trips to my local beaches and rivers, they helped me to spawn numerous business ideas and provided the spark for articles for my blogs. Looking back it was most certainly therapeutic, and helped to keep my mind calm.

If I want to go anywhere in London I have to spend for ever taking buses and tubes to reach my destination, all the happy smiling faces that you encounter on your travels is a joy to behold, meaning if you ever see any, it’s a miracle!

Also good manners are in short supply, I was at Heathrow the other day, meeting a business associate, we decided to take the bus to her hotel. We were about 3 rd from the front of the queue, and soon as the bus arrived it became like a rugby scrum, pure chaos. We almost had to beat people back; they were in such a panic to get on the bus.

The funniest thing about it was that everyone got on, and there were still some spare seats! Another thing that I couldn’t help but notice, was that 90% of the rugby scrum bus queue, were foreign, Indian, Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Russian, etc. I get the impression that these guys come from countries where good manners doesn’t exist.

London may be a wee bit warmer than I’m use to in Scotland, but it seems to be just as wet, does it ever stop raining here? The air sure as hell doesn’t smell as fresh as back home, I have never suffered from hay fever in my life, until I got here, and the tap water is the most disgusting water I have ever tasted in my life, it isn’t drinkable. Another thing which I find funny is all those kids hanging around on the streets, trying their best to look mean and menacing, and graffiti seems to be a huge art form in London, those guys are brainless fools, I meant to say really talented artists!

Even for all its bad points London still has a lot to offer visitors to the city, I think I may have to try and do some touristy things, during the 4 weeks that I still have left here, before I head off to start a wonderful new life in the Caribbean. Maybe that will help me to reignite the spark that has faded a wee bit since I got here.

I have downloaded some pictures of Crane Beach, Bottom Bay, Foul Point and Bath Beach in Barbados and pinned them to my wall, I can feel the inspiration oozing back. It wont be long until I’m heading to these beautiful, places when I’m in the need of some rest and relaxation in beautiful surroundings.

Here is a great article from the travelers stories blog which, prettty much sums up what I love about Barbados Barbados My Place in the Sun, The Best that the Caribbean Has to Offer

How To Become “Internet Famous” In Ten Easy Steps

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 20th, 2008 | filed Filed under: blogging

Michelle Danan has written a fantastic article on how to become Internet famous; it follows on nicely from my own articles and offers some great tips for all those bloggers out there that are hoping to become famous through their blog.

Do you have what it takes to be internet famous? We live in a day and age where the world is literally at our fingertips….. The world wide web that is.

Being internet famous means that the whole world has access to YOU. Lets find out how you can help yourself shall we?

Step 1: Find your PASSION!! What are you good at? What do you believe in? Set a goal for yourself. Why DO you want to achieve this goal? Why do you want to become famous. Make sure you set a realistic deadline and monitor and reflect upon your results every few days.

Step 2: Learn the ins and outs of your computer, HTML and copy and paste. When television and internet media merge one day you will be ready.

Step 3: Join EVERY social network and try to make as many friends as possible. The main sites you want to be on are MYSPACE, YOUTUBE & FACEBOOK. Internet people are pretty friendly, if you write a friendly message people will usually check you out and save you as a friend.

Step 4: Broadcast your IM Screen names, URLs, net addresses and links to every site you visit. Any time someone comments on your page on any literature you write ALWAYS, reply back on their profile or public name page. DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ANYONE (unless it is strictly confidential) people are nosy, if someone else is replying to that person, they are more than likely to check you out.
Step 5: Build a website that suits your personality and update your page on a regular basis. Otherwise people will just pass your site along if you can’t keep their interest.

Step 6: Tell all your friends to help endorse you. Trust me, if your friends are real and true to you they wouldn’t hesitate. After all, convince them that you will be taking them to cool places once you become famous.

Step 7: Buy marketing e-books or Learn about online marketing. Truth is: If you really want to become famous who are you trying to sell. YOURSELF OF COURSE!!!! Think of yourself as a product that everyone can’t live without.

Step 8: Be thoughtful, intelligent and do not respond to petty online arguments, insults or criticism. Always thank people if they leave a constructive comment and always reply back.

Step 9: Be careful of what you share with others. There are a lot of crazy people out there, it is important to be open if you are marketing yourself online but just be careful of how much you share. NEVER SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION! This also includes names of family members, school, favorite colors food, number of brothers and sisters etc. Keep blogs, and posts related to the topic at all times.

STEP 10: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, BE YOURSELF AND HAVE FUN!!

Why have you decided to become a blogger, what motivates you on your journy as a blogger Why Have You Become a Blogger?

I have recently raised the question in one of my recent articles Why Do You Leave Comments On Blogs? Don’t Just Leave Comments for the Sake of it!

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 7th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Online Business Opportunities
In this world, one simple idea can bring an enormous stockpile of wealth to your life. A large number of billionaires become wealthy due to a creative idea that sets them apart from the rest of the world. So ideas create wealth, and in the world of internet business, ideas are important as well. Therefore, in this article, you will learn the most important internet business ideas that will pile some guaranteed income into your pocket.

The first and most important of many internet business ideas that you can use involves a certain strategic way to build your email list. In this method, you will not just collect your visitor’s name and email address, but you will survey your visitor at the same time. Therefore, you are knocking down two important stones at one time. You are building an extremely responsive email list, and at the same time you are doing some heavy market research. This is one of the most powerful internet business ideas because it allows you to hit a home run with your business every time you send out an email promotion to your list. Remember this, if you know what your subscribers needs and desires are, then you can effectively market to them and generate optimal profits.

Now most internet business ideas from now on should revolve around this one major phrase known as web 2.0. When I speak of web 2.0, I am making reference to all of the social community, wikis, and content hosting sites that allow you to interact with other users. One great idea for your business is to choose 3 to 5 of these web 2.0 properties and commit to marketing in these properties daily. If you add fresh content daily, and get actively involved within the 3 to 5 web 2.0 sites you join, then you should see some very significant traffic results within 3 to 4 weeks of starting. If you want to put this step in hyperdrive, you can just funnel all of your traffic from your web 2.0 sources to the special email opt in page we mentioned above as the first idea.

Sparkling Cloudy Lemonade, Viva Le France

author Posted by: garryaw on date Apr 17th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment

beach

I have worked hard all morning from about 6am, on varies projects, which are part of my 2 million dollar goal. It was a reasonable nice day, well I mean by Aberdeen standards it was almost as good as it gets for this time of the year. The sun was shining and it was only slightly cold, which was good enough motivation for me to head down to the beach for a bit of rest and relaxation.

I find if I take an hour or two out and recharge my batteries, I come back feeling refreshed and things just seem to flow better. I headed into the local supermarket for some refreshments which I would enjoy as I watched and listened to the waves hitting the shoreline.

All I can say is that I came across a bottle of French Sparkling Cloudy Lemonade, made by a company called Le Marche François, this stuff was absolutely amazing. The French don’t just make some of the best wines in the world; there Cloudy Lemonade is the business too.

After an hour of relaxation and lemonade drinking I was ready to get back to work to continue developing my ideas, which will help me to make 2 million dollars.

The French Sparkling Cloudy Lemonade and bracing sea breeze had certainly stimulated by brain cells, Viva Le France…….

If It wasnt for the fact I had to go back home to do some work, I would have loved a cool bottle of this lager, which sounds if it would have been perfect for relaxing by the sea , Hollande 1620 Lager

8 Hard-Hitting Article Writing Tips

author Posted by: garryaw on date Apr 16th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment

One of the best reasons for writing articles is to get traffic to your website and lots of it, but you won’t attract much traffic with boring content, ramblings and regurgitated ideas that no one cares about.

Your articles must be interesting, easy to read and spark interest.

How can you do that? Here are a few tips:

1. Forget what you Learned in English Class

Internet surfers are skimmers, they want something that is easy to read and gets to the point fast. When it comes to paragraphs, shorter is better and each paragraph should consist of about 3-5 sentences. The last thing they want to read are big long run-on sentences, even if they belong together it’s easier to read if you break them up. Keep your words simple, get to the point quickly and don’t ramble or get preachy.

One thing you do need to remember from English class is make your writing understandable. I do this by speaking what I write. After you write it, say it out loud. If it doesn’t make sense to you, it won’t make sense to anyone else.

2. Use a Catchy Title

Your title is what lures your reader in. It must capture their attention and incite intrigue. This means using powerful, descriptive words. For example, the title of this article is “8 hard-hitting article writing tips’. ‘Hard-hitting’ is a powerful description of these tips. Get the idea?

Remember also that your title should reflect exactly what your article is about, so keep it relevant and focused.

3. Skip the Broad Topics

There’s nothing worse than a broad topic with little detail. Keep your article focused on one specific topic and then follow through with informative details. Deliver good information in an expert manner. If you have too many topics running through your head, break them up into separate articles. If you are a little foggy about what details to include, ask yourself the who, what, when, where, why and how questions for ideas.

Additionally, keep your ideas flowing in a logical manner, don’t jump around. Your article should flow like smooth running water.

4. Stir up Some Action

Light a fire under your reader by using action words. This means avoiding words like was, were, can, maybe, are, am, may, could, should, etc. Bring your message alive with action words like get, find, will, do, must, go, run, drive, etc. The idea is to bring forth a powerful message that adds enthusiasm and provokes action. Don’t be wishy-washy with your ideas. Project a powerful, authoritative, say what you mean voice.

5. Deliver Quality over Quantity

When submitting your articles to a directory, use the minimum number of words it requires. If a directory requires of minimum of 500 words and your article is 1000 words, split it up into two articles. The more articles you can submit the better. Having more articles is better than having larger articles.

6. Show Some Personality for cryin’ out loud

Let’s face it, articles can be dull. Just read some of the articles out there and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll get a lot more feedback and interest if you can interject some personality in your writing. If you are a funny person, let that humor come through. Even a little sarcasm or controversy can add to a reader’s enjoyment and help put them at ease.

No one wants dull, so let your personality reflect a ’spark of spirit’ that will help your reader better engage in your article.

7. Funnel Your Readers

Forget the bio pitch. Your articles are not the best place for them; leave that to your website. Instead use your article’s resource box to funnel your readers to your website. If they liked what they read in your article they will likely want to see more. Use your resource box to lead them there by attracting them with something of value. For example, your resource box might say something like this:

- get your free course here…

- learn more about xyz here…

- get more articles like this here…

The idea is to channel your readers to your website, not pitch your bio. At this point no one really cares. Get them to your site first.

8. Grammar and Spelling Count

Ever read an article with poor grammar and spelling errors? It’s a bit of a turn-off. It diminishes your professionalism and authority. That’s why you must use spell checker, particularly after making article changes or updates. Keep in mind; however that spellchecker may not pick up errors for words like ‘there’ and ‘their’ so give your articles a good eye-balling before submitting them.

As for your grammar, you don’t have to follow every rule of grammar but you don’t want to sound like a first grader either. Don’t be sloppy; take the time to read over your article for good punctuation and a style of grammar that projects intelligence yet lets your personality shine through.

How To Spot if a Business Opportunity is a Scam

author Posted by: garryaw on date Apr 12th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Online Business Opportunities

There are literally thousands of business opportunities to choose from, many of which are a complete waste of time or even worse they are a downright scam.  My motto when looking for new business propositions is to assume that it is a scam until it is proven otherwise, I never give the benefit of doubt. Why should I, it is my time, effort and money that will be utilized in whatever opportunities I chose to get involved in.

Simple steps which will give away the scammers game:

  1.    If they mention the words easy or make ridiculous claims like you can make $500 in 20 minutes, it’s a scam.

  2.      Ask for the names and contact details of 10 people that are involved in there business. You must then go and talk to these people and find out more.

  3. Take a close look at how you actually make money out of the opportunity, whether you can understand how it works, do the company make outlandish claims as to how much money you will be making.

  4.     If it is some sort of winning gambling system it’s clearly a scam, they do not exist.

  5.     If you are expected to recruit other people to make money, do not waste one second considering this type of system, it is clearly a scam.

  6.     Very few MLM type systems actually work, for more than a handful of people.

  7.    Be wary of any vague claims that the company makes or claims which they cannot back up with evidence. I

  8.    Always do a thorough Google search and find out as much as you can about the company.

  9.      By following the above advise, you will ultimately find business opportunities that will offer what you are looking for, and that is the potential to make money.

My advices is always take your time, and do as much research as possible, then go and do so some more research, I think you get the picture! If something looks too good to be true, it usually is. There is no such thing as easy money, if you are looking to get involved in a business opportunity you have got to be prepared to put the necessary time and effort into making it a success.
