So You Want To Become a Millionaire, Don’t We All!

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 14th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment

I think most people dream about becoming a millionaire, and by millionaire, I mean, having a million pounds in cash sitting in your bank account. As Del Trotter said for all those years,  In Only Fools and Horses, “this time next year we will be millionaires”.

In all seriousness it may have been a comedy, but good old Del Boy, was actually constantly buying and selling things with the dream, the ambition and the desire to become a millionaire. That is probably a lot more than most people who have the dream to become a millionaire!

I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to transform the desire to become a millionaire, into finding a successful business opportunity, which I can use as a springboard to making millions. I suppose most of us prefer the dream because its easier and doesn’t involve any real effort, it acts as a distraction as we go about our daily routines.

It was only recently that I have personally being putting the effort into developing business opportunities. Like a lot of people I spent most of  my life working as a wage slave, happy with my reasonable comfortable roof over my head, two holidays a year, going out for meals and socialising when I wanted. Life wasn’t too bad.

I sat down one day and analysed my life and thought, shit!  The way things are going my pension will be worth nothing, I could lose my job any time the company figures out another way to combine even more jobs into one, in order to get even more blood out of the stone. Analysing my life really made me think about the long-term future and what lay ahead. It wasn’t pretty! It wasn’t inspiring! It wasn’t what I dreamt.

I had to stop dreaming about becoming a millionaire and start doing something towards making it become a reality. My self-appraisal of my life and by looking into the crystal ball as to what life may have in store for me, gave me a reality check.  What I knew and didn’t like was that I wasn’t in control of my own destiny.

The day I started putting together the ideas for my Barbados based businesses, which shall be going live in July was truly inspiring. I have slowly but surely cleansed my body, mind and soul of the negative forces, which were stopping me from moving forward on the road to success. We all have to learn how to control our minds to its full potential as opposed to allowing our minds to control us.

I have just recently registered a new domain name for a web site, which I shall be launching at some point this year; I need to get Barbados up and running first.  This business idea which I shall for obvious reasons not go into to many details, it was inspired by reading about some crazy business ideas which made the creators serious money. My theory is a simple one, I feel I have a unique idea, and don’t see why I cant sell 100,000 at $10 per sale and wolla I have made $1,000,000.

As Del Boy says, this time next year we will be millionaires, it may not be next year, but I’m definitely on the right path to becoming a millionaire. I hope this article can inspiring anybody out there that need more out of life and want to start achieving more. All I can say is, start spending more time thinking about possible business ideas, step out of the box and dare to dream.

Hey Mister Taxi Driver, I Thought You Were Meant To be a Businessman!

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 9th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment
We all love to hate taxi drivers, but at some point in our lives we all have to unfortunately use their quality service! Maybe quality isn’t quite the right word to use.

I will personally do anything I can to avoid them, when I have a night out which involves alcohol, I will try my best to persuade my wife that drinking too much alcohol isn’t very good for her latest dieting regime, and the result is I have the driving situation sorted out.

I suppose I just find them the most annoying, obnoxious, dumb, arrogant drivers out there. I would like to know when they were given their own version of the Highway Code. Also I can’t quite understand why so many of them haven’t figured out how to use a shower and what a bar of soap is used for.

Oh why do their employers allow them to drive in such a disgusting state, and the self employed ones, what sort of business are you trying to run.

I thought I had seen it all as far as taxi drivers were concerned, but alas even I was amazed this week. I had just left visiting my dad, when I watched an 80-year-old woman get wheeled to the taxi by her equally old friend. Her friend opens the door of the lazy Bstards taxi and politely askes the driver if he can put the wheelchair in the boot for her friend.

A simple enough request you would think, he was a self employed taxi driver so you would think, he would do his best to endear himself to his customers, the words, repeat business springs to mind and recommendations, about 100 old people stay in the complex he was at. Not this great businessman, he arrogantly tells her she will have to do it herself, its too heavy for him. Now this taxi driver was no athlete, but he was 40 years younger and she was paying for his taxi service.

I did what any half decent person would do I lifted the wheelchair into the boot of his vehicle. I thought about denting the Kia People carrier, I bet that would have made the dimwit move fast. (I know he wishes it were a Chrysler, hey learn some manners, decency and get some brains and you never know). I then quietly told him what he was, a dumb, lazy, asshole.

Lets see the proper way to do it. I would have woke up in the morning and then had a shower, used some shower gel, brushed my teeth, put on some clean clothes. I would have started my day, with some positivity, if you are reading this Mr taxi drivers, the following article it will help you start your working day

Taxi drivers here is a simple lesson in how to run a quality service! I would have been out the car waiting on the old dears, I would have smiled, helped them both into the car, gladly put the wheelchair in the car. When I had taken them to the hospital, I would have asked them if they required me to come back for them. If yes great more business, If not I would given them some business cards and then  politely asked them if they could recommend me to their friends. Now I would imagine, from the old folks complex where he picked her up and driven her to the hospital, the fare would be about £15 one way, not bad for 10 mins or so driving.

I suppose the problem is that most taxi drivers are just plain old dumb and haven’t got a much of a clue about providing a quality service or how to run a business properly! Taxi drivers quit cussing your customers, drive with manners and learn some basic personal hygiene. You will be more successful and life will treat you better!

Here are some nice places you can recommend for your tourist customers , remember be nice to them, they are paying you, they are doing you the favour by getting in your cab, not the other way around! A Must visit Scottish City, Town, village, Beach and Castle.

Finding Your Motivation in Life

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 4th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment

I personally feel that one of the biggest obstacles, which prevents us from succeeding, is motivation. If you have problems with motivation, or staying motivated I strongly suggest you find a way to change the way you think. The following syndicated article defiantly provides some answers as to how you can stay motivated and rise to whatever challenges you are faced with.

What is motivation? The dictionary describes it as “the act of giving somebody a reason or incentive to do something” or “a feeling of enthusiasm, interest or commitment that makes somebody want to do something”. So, motivation can be the reason you do something or the feeling that makes you want to do something. Finding your motivation in life is about finding a reason to succeed and about creating and nurturing the feelings that make you want to be successful. When a person has gone through a tragedy, such as losing a loved one, sometimes they struggle with finding the motivation to get out of bed in the morning. Once you have found your true motivation there will be no circumstance that can stop you from wanting to get out of bed, in fact, the things that might be considered tragedies or setbacks to someone else will only make you try harder to succeed.

Think about two runners competing in a race for a moment. Both of them are about the same height, weight and have about the same degree of muscle tone. Each of them has trained equally hard and pushed his physical body to the limit during practices and competitions throughout the year. Now imagine for a moment that one of these runners has just lost a loved one. It was his grandmother who had raised him since his mother left when he was just two years old. His grandmother always told him to do his very best. The runners take their marks and this runner pictures his grandmother cheering him on. He wants to win this race to honour her memory. Which runner do you think will win the race? The runner with the greatest motivation will surely win, every time. It would not matter if he had a pulled muscle, headache or any other challenge that day. His motivation is so great that it will overcome anything that stands in his way.

Each and every person has something or someone that motivates him or her. Some people find their motivation in wanting to make the most of the gifts they feel their creator endowed them with. Other people find it in the love of their children. For some it is their own sense of contentment and satisfaction. Some people are motivated by money or power and others by feelings of love and commitment. Every person is unique in their talents and abilities, as well as their motivation to use their gifts successfully. A person who is not doing anything with their life or at least not achieving any level of success may think that they just don’t have any motivation, but this is usually not true. Sometimes it just takes a little work to uncover it. Many people do waste their lives away and never know their purpose or their motivation, but this does not have to be your choice.

Within each person lies the ability to succeed and find satisfaction, fulfilment and purpose in their lives. Taking the time to think about and uncover your hidden motivation can be the difference between a life of purpose and happiness and one of just survival. Your success begins the moment you make the decision to go after it.

Dream the Dream, Then All You Have To Do Is Believe, Achieve, Succeed

author Posted by: garryaw on date May 4th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment

Can success in life really be as simple as my title suggests, I haven’t personally reached the stage in my life where I can lay my beach towel down on crane beach in Barbados and lie back and relax knowing that I have succeeded with my life. I’m at the stage where I’m dreaming the dream and I sure as hell believe that I’m going to succeed. I suppose at the present time, I’m stuck at the achieving part of the great plan to become successful. It has taken me decades of working in a variety of jobs, to come to the conclusion that being a slave to a wage isn’t what I want my life to be about.

Being told what I have to do, or when I can have my lunch break, or when I can or can’t have my holidays, or how much of a pay rise I deserve, is not how I want to live my life anymore. That was the reason I quit my job and decided it was time to fend for myself. The time had come for me to be in control of my own destiny.

I had been dreaming the dream for a number of years, of working for myself and quitting the rate race in the UK and heading to the sun, but I was lacking the spark or the courage to do something about it. Having a secure job with a reasonable wage, 6 weeks holidays a year and a good pension, was a big chain around my neck. As much as I hated working for the boss man, I couldn’t free myself.

But I started to open up my mind and dared to dream the dream, there were those, and still are those people, that will tell you that dreams are fantasy and will never come true. That’s why the dreams of those people can never come true, they don’t believe in the dream.

It really is as simple as the heading of this article states, but you also have to put a lot of commitment, effort and time, into making the dream become a reality. Anyone can do it, you can control your own destiny, and it’s up to ourselves which path we choose to go down.

The day I started writing this blog and received my first reader and then made my first $1 dollar from it, was pure inspiration for me, it was the start of the dream. The second part of my dream, which was quitting the rate race in the UK, is about to come true, as I head to the Caribbean. Also receiving my first client for one of the business, which I’m going to be running in Barbados was another step closer to making my 2 million dollar bills. (What I will be making from the deal was the equivalent of 4 months wages, that I use to earn in the UK),

My advise to anybody out there that hates their job, hates the  boss or has had enough of the rat race, or for whatever reason they are unhappy in life. Do something about it; don’t be  like all those whingers around you, that are happy and content to moan about how much they hate life, rather than put the same effort into doing something constructive to change things.

You have to begin by dreaming the dream.

To Live Or to Exist - Is Life Worth Living?

author Posted by: garryaw on date Apr 25th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment
We have two viable choices in the way we perceive life. We can either view it as an exciting adventure or as something to struggle through in which we simply get by. We have the option to live or to exist, to find life worth living or to be tolerated. I choose the first option because although I’ve had my difficult times and endured a fair amount of suffering I’m delighted to be alive!

How incredible is our planet and the universe around us when we see it through inquisitive and appreciative eyes. How amazing are we because we’re capable of creating astounding and beautiful works of art and of writing about life in ways that can inspire one another. Musicians create music to touch our emotions and give us metaphorical wings with which to fly.

Yet words are inadequate to explain the beauty and euphoria of living. They’re only able to paint a reflection of our passage through time; capture a glimpse of the treasures in the Eden of the human soul where at its purest a light shines so blindingly brightly. We are travelers through time, unlocking secrets and discovering ways to lift up the ones who flounder and limp behind.

As one race our most worthy attributes add up to make a noble, graceful and mystical world tribe. We are warriors who conquer barriers of space travel, discover new ways to vanquish sickness and strive to revive our planet from the malaise we’ve mistakenly and foolishly caused.

Let’s perceive ourselves as innovators, exploring young frontiers. Currently there’s a shift in the universal thought cycles in which many of us are pioneering fresh ways to go back to the ways our ancestors lived. They were good caretakers of our planet, before industry and technology smeared and scarred the landscape.

Because our race is inherently noble, wise, powerful and just there’s a clear horizon ahead if we allow love and respect for one another and our earth prevail. We’re strong when we gather our thoughts together as like minded trail blazers, in the revitalizing spirit of awareness that’s springing up in hearts and minds around the globe.

It’s worth living in order to ultimately relish and enjoy it and to nourish and protect our world so that we can hand it to our children as a still fragile, yet convalescing life giving, colourful, sacred orb.

I’ll part with a wink, a smile and an offering of enlightenment from the mystic poet Rumi:

I am a naked man standing inside a mine of rubies,

clothed in red silk.

I absorb the shining and now I see the ocean,

Billions of simultaneous motions

moving in me.

A circle of lovely, quiet people

becomes the ring on my finger.

An extract of the poem: ‘I Have Such a Teacher from Open Secret: Versions of Rumi’ by John Mayne and Coleman Barks.

Exercise, Motivation, Relaxation and Work, All In One Journey!

author Posted by: garryaw on date Apr 24th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Self Impovment

It was reasonable nice day yesterday so I headed down to the Aberdeen beach for a power walk. Jogging is just too painful for me; I see them running past me in the dozens, with their aching bandaged knees, looking like they are going to drop dead any minute, from a combination of exhaustion and pain.It was 8.30am the sun was shinning a wee bit and there was the usual bracing breeze which is ever-present at the beach in this great city. There is nothing quite like a power walk in these conditions, it sure as hell wakes you up good, the scenery is inspiring, it puts my mind in a positive mode and gets my brain cells working overtime with business ideas.

I always carry my trusty notebook and pencil with me, so that I can write down any good ideas that I think of while I’m on the road. A great and simple system that even good old Richard Branson uses.

I’m not a crazy fitness freak so I after I have walked the whole of the beach front I stop for 30 minutes or so for some relaxation. Where I just sit and watch the waves, and breath in the healthy sea air. Unfortunately I never had any of that delicious cloudy lemonade which tastes so good to drink.

Its amazing how much you can get out of a 90 minute walk at the beach, I got some exercise, it provided me with motivation to keep on working hard to achieve my business goals, I even got some great relaxation, and finally I felt inspired to come up with some good ideas for my businesses. Which is all good for me, as I get ever closer to my new life in the Caribbean.

Sparkling Cloudy Lemonade, Viva Le France

beach

I have worked hard all morning from about 6am, on varies projects, which are part of my 2 million dollar goal. It was a reasonable nice day, well I mean by Aberdeen standards it was almost as good as it gets for this time of the year. The sun was shining and it was only slightly cold, which was good enough motivation for me to head down to the beach for a bit of rest and relaxation.

I find if I take an hour or two out and recharge my batteries, I come back feeling refreshed and things just seem to flow better. I headed into the local supermarket for some refreshments which I would enjoy as I watched and listened to the waves hitting the shoreline.

All I can say is that I came across a bottle of French Sparkling Cloudy Lemonade, made by a company called Le Marche François, this stuff was absolutely amazing. The French don’t just make some of the best wines in the world; there Cloudy Lemonade is the business too.

After an hour of relaxation and lemonade drinking I was ready to get back to work to continue developing my ideas, which will help me to make 2 million dollars.

The French Sparkling Cloudy Lemonade and bracing sea breeze had certainly stimulated by brain cells, Viva Le France…….

If It wasnt for the fact I had to go back home to do some work, I would have loved a cool bottle of this lager, which sounds if it would have been perfect for relaxing by the sea , Hollande 1620 Lager
