I recently read some disturbing comments made by Nikesh Arora, president for Google Europe, Middle East and Africa and vice president Google UK, who by looking into his Google crystal ball, is basically telling us Google wants and is going to attempt to make big changes concerning the current structure of the internet!
Arora, who’s comments you have to guess were discussed with the Google Hierarchy long before he made them, he/they believe that the web economy is going to change and that people will pay for content online, much like in the print industry.
For me, I can only imagine that Google have discovered a new master plan as to how they can make even more money from the online community.
I think that huge companies such as Google, Yahoo, MSN etc are hell bent on destroying the way the Internet works at the present time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they all sat in secret meetings trying to figure out how to make the Internet even more cash friendly for them and their shareholders.
It’s the usual story of huge wealthy companies; they can never make enough profits. I personally feel that when they get to the stage where they care more about profits than they do innovation, its time for a smaller, and more innovative and exciting company to come along and take market share away from them, much like they all did when they first stated out. But I guess if that happens the Google, Yahoo or MSN machines, will soon buy it over and destroy it.
Arora also seems to have a big problem with the amount of blogs that are currently online and says it will not last, he reckons there will be a huge clearout and predicts a small number rising to the top and creaming off large audiences. I see this as being a dangerous situation, how long will it be until these super blogs are bought over and then controlled by Google, MSN, Yahoo, huge publishers, etc, My 2milliondollarbills.com crystal ball is now starting to see the future!
Google and the other major players in the online world and publishing worlds, have to realise there are millions of people out there that are not controlled by the desire to make profits and more profits and more profits!
I feel that maybe Google needs to take a few steps back and find out what it is, the hundreds of millions of users that use them, really want from the Internet. Google may lose out if they try to dictate and force their future of the internet upon the world, so that they can make even more profits.
