I feel that the simple strategies that I use for playing online Texas Holdem poker will bring you profitable results. I would recommend that you should only be playing poker online for money if you have at least a moderate understanding of the game.My tips for winning are:

1. Play the free games until you have a moderate understanding of the game.
2. Start off by playing low stake games and progress as you win.
3. You must have discipline and patience to win.
4. Try to play in a room with at least 8 players.
5. On average you should only be playing 5 or 6 hands an hour at the most.
6. Keep notes of your opponents; see which player’s only play with A+ in their starting hand. You can use this information to either fold or to gain more money from them when an A does or doesn’t land on the flop. See which players like to bluff, who can be bullied etc.
7. Try to play in a room with at least 8 players.
8. I recommend only playing the following starting hands AA, AK, AQ, AJ, KK, QQ, JJ. When it comes to your turn to bet, bet double the big blind. When the flop hits and there is an A on the board and you don’t have A in your hand fold. Unless of course you hit with your other card.
9. Depending on the situation i.e when there are 3 or fewer players left after the flop has hit and you are the last player to act,  I would also play the following hands KQ, KJ, K10, if I can get in cheap.
10. When you have the nuts get everything you have into the pot on the river card.
11. Remember even when playing my recommended hands they can and will be beaten at some point. Watch out for hands that can beat them, watch out for possible flushes, straights etc. When you think you are beaten even when you have AA or KK etc don’t take the chance just fold, 9 times out of 10 your gut instinct will be right.
12. I would never get into the habit of playing A with any small kicker or playing any two suited cards, in the long run you will end up a loser. Don’t worry about defending your blinds; again in the long run you will end up a big loser.
13. The biggest reason that many people lose money playing online poker is that they don’t have the necessary discipline and   patience to be successful. They can’t handle. not being involved in the play  and they end up playing too many hands. Don’t fall into this trap and you will be successful. It maybe won’t make you rich but it will make you a profit.
14. Never play poker for real money, when you are tired or have been drinking alcohol you will always end up a loser. Always think about what you are doing when playing poker and analyse every hand after you have played it, how could you have played it better, how could you have made more money, how could you have lost less money etc.

The more time you spend playing poker, as long as you keep on learning and doing the things necessary to improve your game, you will become a better player and ultimately win more money.
